our approach to women’s health

Our specialist women’s health team

Synthesis CLinic - an Award-winning women’s health service

What conditions can we help with at SYnthesis CLinic?

  • Hormones and women’s health - PMS and PMDD, heavy or painful menstrual bleeding, endometriosis, PCOS, fertility, antenatal and postnatal support, menopause/peri-menopause (including body identical and bioidentical HRT), hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism and adrenal (HPA axis) dysfunction

    • Thyroid and HPA axis dysfunction may often present as fatigue, weight changes and mood problems, including low mood and anxiety

  • Mental and emotional wellbeing - mood swings, anxiety, ‘brain fog’

Important note

Please note that Synthesis Clinic is not a specialist eating disorder clinic, and we are not able to take on patients with an active eating disorder. We are only able to support individuals who are in stable long-term remission from a past eating disorder. Please note that some general nutrition education handouts provided may include foods to include and foods to limit, so if this may be triggering in any way, finding specialist support outside our practice would be best.

How do we support women at the clinic?

We use both Precision Health (including Functional Medicine) and Lifestyle Medicine models at our practice, providing truly personalised healthcare plans based on root causes of illness instead of the ‘sticky plaster’ symptom-based approach. We offer a broad range of interventions, from nutrition and lifestyle plans to exercise and emotional wellbeing support. Our doctors also use their medical toolkit in a directed and personalised way, as we believe in treating people, not running protocols.

We use a truly integrated approach where members of our multidisciplinary team meet regularly to discuss their approach to each individual and to ensure everybody in the team is united behind you.

How does your approach work?

Using Precision Health and Lifestyle Medicine approaches, we thoroughly assess you as the whole person (including detailed testing where appropriate) and use a broad therapeutic toolkit to create a fully tailored plan. Our plans use the following components:
